He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Lafayette Clotfelter and Lora Etta Smith Clotfelter. He is survived by: his wife Jeanne Drapeau Clotfelter; and his daughters, Kristina Marie Clotfelter of Florida and Lisa Diane Adams of West Virginia. He is also survived by three grandchildren.
