He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil McCoy and Goldie Blackburn McCoy; and his siblings, Lester McCoy, Marcella Kirk, Vina Delong, Irene Lowe and Mary Anne Horn.
He is survived by: his wife Della Jean McCoy; his son Matthew B. McCoy of Georgetown, KY; his stepson Boonie Fletcher of Inez, KY; his daughter Brandy Murphy of Williamson, WV; and his brothers, Milton McCoy of Ulysses, KY and Paul Dean McCoy of Pilgrim, KY.. He is also survived by three grandchildren.
