He was predeceased by: his parents, Shelby Payton and Valor Payton; his wife JoNell Geary Payton; and his siblings, Leland Payton, Joe Payton, Jean Lovely and Evelyn Crawford.
He is survived by: his children, Jeff Payton of Horse Branch, Rita Decker (Paul) of Caneyville, Gail Fraim (Robbie) of Caneyville and Marsha Hayes (Sean) of Caneyville; his grandchildren, Lorie Clark (Collin), Drago Fraim (Kim), Haley Haycraft (Kaleb) and Caleb Hayes; his great grandchildren, Shelbi, Mattie, Beth, Austin and Lela; and his sister Hazel Geary of Yeaman.
