He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellis Wheeler and Leliah Sublett Wheeler; and his siblings, Kenneth, Roy Leon, Dallas "Sed", Hollis Ray and Thomas Ray.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret Lynn; his daughters, Dorothy Melissa Carver (Brent) of Frankfort, KY and Kara Wendellyn Elam (Shannon); his grandchildren, Logan Ellis Carver, Jacob Wyatt Elam and Jackson Wheeler Elam; and his sisters, Betsy Skaggs (Jon), Alice Hersman and Ruth Ann Erwin (Thomas). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of his memory can be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, P.O..
