He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Ragland Downey and Mable Hargis Downey; his wife Shirley Downey; and his siblings, Joe Downey and Hazel Perry.
He is survived by: his children, Jackie Gent of Franklin, KY and Dana Scott (Jamie) of Woodburn, KY; his grandchildren, Josh Gent (Amy), Leslie Gent, Haydon Scott (Rachel) and Carra Scott; his great grandchildren, Spencer Gent, Tucker Scott and Kendall Scott; his close friend Estelle Hanley of Franklin, KY; and his half-sister Bobbie Jean Dickerson of Woodburn, KY. He is also survived by 2 nieces and 1 nephew.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy are to be made to the Simpson County Honor Guard, P.O. Box 1043, Franklin, KY 42135-1043.
