He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Edgar Smith and Verla Mae Broom Smith; his daughter Sandra Kay Smith; and his siblings, Helen McEachran, Ruth Keely and Glen Smith.

He is survived by: his wife Delores "Dee" Smith; his sons, Michael Glen Smith (Peggy) and Rodney Dale Smith; his grandsons, Christopher, Chad and Jackson; and his great grandchildren, Paislie, Oakley Ann, Peyton, Toby and Deamon.
