She was predeceased by: her parents, Hardy Watkins and Lilly Watkins (Rodgers); her husband Paul Frances Thurmond; her daughter Connie Barrera; and her siblings, Suzy Harp, Grace Watkins, Hardin Watkins, Ray Watkins and Grover Watkins.

She is survived by: her sons, Paul A. Thurmond, Donald Ray Thurmond of Taylorsville and Phillip Thurmond of New Castle; and her sister Doris Preston of Sulphur. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
