He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank A. J. Manthey and Josephine Roth Manthey; and his sons, Michael Manthey and Randy Shackelford. He is survived by: his wife Doris J. Manthey of Elkton; his children, Peter Manthey (Terri) of Anchorage, Alaska, Susan Phillips of Cape Girardeau, Teresa Jean Williams (Steve) of Gallatin and Cheryl Denise Mullen (Scott) of Hopkinsville; and his siblings, Robert Manthey of Daytona Beach, Florida, Janet Sullivan of New Windsor and Ruth Curley of Winchester, Virginia. He is also survived by five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
