He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Ward and Melvina Looney Ward; his wife Glema Potter Ward; and his son Dennis Ward. He is survived by: his daughters, Betty Jean Damron (Roy) of Elkhorn City and Karen Ann Elswick (Bill) of Richmond, KY; his grandsons, Roy Michael Damron of Lexington, KY and Matthew Gene Damron of Pikeville, KY.; and his sisters, Hazel Wallace of Elkhorn City, Gwendolyn Caudill of Elkhorn City and Doris Ellison of Des Plaines, IL..
