He was predeceased by: his wife Arlene Gayle Daniels Fights; his parents, James A. Fights and Edna P. Carr Fights; his children, Rodney Paul Fights, Jr. and Karen Lynn Jaggers; his grandson Jason Lee Emrick; and his siblings, Delores Elizabeth Edwards, Audrey Pearl "Sis" Long, Bertha Geneva "Eva" Chilton, Edna Lorena "Babe" Franklin, Theda Hildred "Dude" Rothwell, Leitha Marie Southerland, Alma Francis Montgomery, Nadine Carr Fights, Billie Jean Fights, Editha Amelia Fights, William Roberts "Sonny" Fights and James Garth Fights.

He is survived by: his son Gary S. Fights of Elizabethtown; and his sister Margaret Stanley Fights. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews.
