He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Spencer and Zeecy Taylor Spencer; his wife Beatrice Daugherty Spencer; his brother Wendel Ray "Buddy" Spencer; and his niece Rise Carol Thompson.
He is survived by: his daughters, Shelia Thomas (Mike) and Rebecca "Becky" Herron (Jeff); his grandchildren, Lesley Thomas Hoover, Brandon Thomas (Candace), Kristin Tomas and Seth Herron (Emily); his great grandchildren, Ethan Hoover (Jessie), Eli Hoover, Lauren Thomas, Emilee Thomas and William Spencer "Will" Herron; his sister Dorothy Mae Thompson (Brent); his nieces, Cynthia Wilson (Mike), Susan Spencer and Karen Spencer McMullen; and his nephew Mark Thompson (Ami). He is also survived by cousins and several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
