He was predeceased by: his former wife Elizabeth Gibson Skaggs; his wife Beverly Jean Matthews; and his brother Louis Albert Stewart. He is survived by: his children, Margo Sanders (Barry), Tom Stewart, David Stewart (Sonya) and Joseph "Jay" Stewart Jr. (Sarah); and his stepchildren, Andrea Kusten and Steven Matthews.
