He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Abeln and Mary Abeln; and his sister Patricia Robinson. He is survived by: his significant other Patti Uhling; his sons, Dr. Kris Abeln and Jason Abeln; his stepdaughters, Jennifer Clark and Katie Weber; and his sister Mary Kathleen Bason. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren.
