He was predeceased by: his parents, Early Spencer and Mamie G. Coomer Spencer; his wife Virginia Combs Spencer; his son Jerry Samson Spencer, Jr.; and his siblings, Floyd Spencer, Omer V. Spencer, James Spencer, Troy Spencer, Betty Halsey and Loubertia Pike.
He is survived by: his children, Chris Gibbs (Sandi) of Indianapolis, Indiana and Rebecca Adams (Jeremy) of Leeco, Kentucky; his stepdaughter Michelle Prine (Mike) of Clayton, Indiana; and his siblings, Arthur Spencer of Middletown, Curt Spencer of Campton, Kentucky and Lois W. Prows of Pine Ridge, Kentucky.. He is also survived by three grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
