He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Burress Newton and Johnny Gobel Newton; his wife Juanita Benningfield; his son-in-law Terry Dabney; and his siblings, Junior Newton, Vernon Newton (Bernice Smith) and Betty Baker.

He is survived by: his children, Judy Dabney, Debbie Wade (Dee), Jeff Newton (Cathy) and Russ Newton (Krista); and his grandchildren, Tara Dabney, Traver Dabney (Kelli), Jenny Newton (Eric), Ben Newton (Sheere), Drew Newton (Megan), Seth Wade, Grant Newton and Macy Newton. He is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren and many loved nieces and nephews.
