She was predeceased by: her parents, J. D. Hayden and Hazel White Bates; her stepfather George Bates; and her brother Jerry Hayden. She is survived by: her husband Gary Vetzel of Cadiz, KY; her children, Jamie Smith (Summer) of Benton, KY, Terry Vinson (Amanda) of Ledbetter, KY and Cynthia Slagle of Lexington, KY; and her siblings, David Bates (Maxine) and Sandy Smith (Dale) of Paducah, KY. She is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
