He was predeceased by: his parents, Shade Carter and Mary Maynard Carter; his wife Winnie Lee Maynard Carter; his sisters, Louise Carter Copley (Steve), Mertle Carter, Lidie Carter Kirk (Russell), Haddie Carter and Nona Carter; and his sister-in-law Ellie Carter.

He is survived by: his brother Ray Carter (Vicie) of Beauty, KY.
