He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Mattingly Simpson; his children, Brenda Riley (Kenny), Ken Simpson (Gwen) and Kevin Simpson (Michelle); his siblings, Peggy Wathen (Joey) and Bobby Simpson of Bardstown; and his grandchildren, John Wesley Monin, Dylan Monin (Kelsey), Angela Culver (John), Breann Riley (Blake), Brandon Simpson (Colleen), Kent Simpson (Abby), Olivia Simpson (Jamie), Chase Simpson (Danielle) and Beth Simpson (Austin). He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren.
