She was predeceased by: her husband J. H. Greenwell; her granddaughter Kris Rainey; her parents, Linus Tewell and Viola Elizabeth Tewell; and her brothers, William Murriel "Bill" Tewell and Edward Gerald Tewell.

She is survived by: her children, Sandy Greenwell of Boston, Joe Greenwell of Boston and Phil Greenwell of Lake Gaston; her sister Mary Elizabeth "Libby" McGimsey of Louisville; and her sister-in-law Nettie Tewell of Fairdale. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
