He was predeceased by: his parents, Bertha Hammons Payne and James E. Payne; his wife Jean Bryant Payne; his son Terry McCoy; and his siblings, Ishmael Payne (Joyce Payne), Edna Payne Schraffran (John Schraffran), Charlene Payne Hall (Kennis) and Mchala Payne Clavet (Ivan).
He is survived by: his children, Sherry Payne Broughton (Teddy), Jackie Browning Williams (John), Ricky Payne and Gary Payne (Debra Ferguson Payne).
