He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert G. Freeman and Ruth Freeman (Payne); his wife Elaine (Winchell); his son Richard James; and his siblings, LLoyd, Neal, C. D., Ronald, Edward J., Alena Rasmussen and LaDonna Perkins.
He is survived by: his children, Debra Sampson (Ernest), Heath Freeman (Jaylene) and Lori Freeman (Erin Shy); his grandchildren, Gwendolynn Sampson-Barnhart (Shaun), Scott Sampson (Amber) and Peyton James Freeman; his great grandchildren, Jakob, Drew, Jasmine, Addison Sampson and Reagan Sampson; and his brothers, Royce, Harley and John Paul. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
