He was predeceased by: his sisters, Nancy Cassidy of St. Joseph and Linda Clary of Troy; and his son-in-law Marvin Ross of Troy. He is survived by: his daughters, De Ashworth (Rick), Wathena Stacy Ruhnke and Wathena Natalie Simpson (Brian); his grandchildren, Brianna Wardein (Ryan), Cheyenne Ward, Ali Johnson (Ryan), Emily Hawkins (Sheldon) and Nathan Richter; his great grandchildren, Greyson, Jackson and Eric; and his friend Roger Friday.
