With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Sara J. Appelhanz of Topeka, Kansas, who passed away on July 19, 2021 at the age of 80. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Brinell and Edna Brinell (Drake); her stepsons, Roderick and John Appelhanz; and her brother Joseph Brinell.

She is survived by: her husband Ike Appelhanz; her daughter Elizabeth Ann Dewitt; her stepchildren, Fred Appelhanz, Michael Appelhanz (Cindy), Daniel Appelhanz (Denise), Christina Finn (Ron), Janet Shaw and Amy Tompkins (John A.); and her grandchildren, Amber and Austin Dewitt. She is also survived by numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren and extended family.
