She was predeceased by: her parents, David Mathias and Ada Mathias (Kennedy); her daughter Shirley Jean Carey; and her siblings, John Mathias, Alfred "Doc" Mathias, Edith Deaton, Ruth Rathjen and Mildred Brown.
She is survived by: her son Donald E. Carey; her granddaughter Victoria Carey; and her great grandchildren, Kalub of Topeka, Kolton of Topeka and Kameron Craig of Topeka.
