He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Winters and Merle Winters; his son Paul Diel; his granddaughter Makayla Diel; and his brother Carl Dean Winters.
He is survived by: his wife Veronica Gay Diel of Virginia; his children, John Todd Winters Hiatt of Lawrence, KS, Veronica (James Dillard) of Galena, MO, Dwaine Bates of Paola, KS, Chris Bell of Paola, KS and Sarah (Gary Bailey) of Louisburg, KS; his brother Freddy (Patty Winters) of Gardner, KS; his sister-in-law Vicki Winters of Gardner, KS; his grandchildren, James (Chelsea Dillard), Susana Dillard, Conor Winters, Keagan Winters, Kailey Bates, Ellie Bates, Dylan Bates, Madison Bell, Marlee Bell, Lacy (Danny Shields), Tyler Ahrens, Madalynn Ahrens and Isaiah Diel-Nickerson; and his great grandchildren, Kash Shields, Kane Shields, Janaya Herriford, Markeese Herriford and Rayden Ahrens.
