She was predeceased by: her parents, Vernon Smothers and Rowena Smothers (Penry); her sisters, Joann and Laverne; her husband Eugene O'Brien; her children, Donna Jean, Chuck Hoffman, Carl Hoffman and Diana Hoffman-Stults; and her grandchildren, Charlie Hoffman and Joshua Stickney.
She is survived by: her daughter Debbie McQuay (Brian) of LaCygne; her brother-in-law Joe Graves of Mound City; and her grandchildren, Cassie Butcher (Will) of Osawatomie, Tara Ingle (John) of Springhill, Shelly Rickerson (Kendall) of Gardner, Michael Allen of Gardner, Donnie Allen (Missy) of Leavenworth, Brian David McQuay Jr. (Robin) of Washington State, Carey Filipin (Ryan) of Osawatomie, Bobby Allen and Harold Stults. She is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
