He was predeceased by: his wife Kathryn Ternes; his daughter Sheila Ternes; his parents, John Ternes and Isabella Ternes; and his brothers, Robert and LeRoy Ternes.

He is survived by: his children, Don Ternes of Wichita and Becky Coats of Wichita; and his siblings, Virgil Ternes, Virginia Ternes and Helen Galvin.
