He was predeceased by: his parents, Tony Schulte and Thelma Schulte (Huffington); and his brother Theron Schulte. He is survived by: his wife Alice Dugan Schulte; his children, Sharon Brolin (Andy), Daniel Schulte (Mary Giovanni) and Kathleen Schulte; his grandchildren, Rachael Brolin, Jack Brolin, Zane Brolin, Madalyn Schulte, Amelia Schulte and Briana Schulte; and his siblings, Tom Schulte (Nancy) and Ann Ast (late LeRoy).
