It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James L Ray of Galena, Kansas, born in Joplin, Missouri, who passed away on October 3, 2020, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Ray and Ruth Ray; his siblings, Darrell Ray, Wayne Ray, Charles Edmondson and Wilma Jean Conway; his former wife Nina; and his nieces and nephews, Gary, Randy, Bill, David Ray, Ted, Mitzi Conway and Leigh Ray.
He is survived by: his children, James L. Ray Jr. (Debbie) of Virginia and Sheila McMaster (Jose) of North Carolina; his stepchildren, Angela K. Hays (Clifford) of Galena and William E. Colgrove (Kim) of Galena; his grandchildren, Kaley Haynie (Sam) of Tennessee, Dustin Ray (Catherine) of Texas, Carly Valles (John) of North Carolina, Kyler Colgrove (Amanda) of Maryland, Kelsey Colgrove (Micah) of Overland Park, Corey Colgrove of West Virginia, Elizabeth Turner (Robert) of Joplin and Ryan Schurman (Kristy) of Oklahoma; and his great grandchildren, Isaac, Rylee, Madison Haynie, Juliana, Avalon, Gwendolyn Valles, Fallon Ray, Greyson, Keira, Alaina Colgrove, Evan, Abigail Colgrove, Arabella Turner, Kayley and Avery Schurman. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Mary's Episcopal Church in care of Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.
