It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Barbara J. Ward of Derby, Kansas, born in Wichita, Kansas, who passed away on July 30, 2022, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Alvin Jones and Elizabeth Jones; and her siblings, Jerry, Mary Ann and Julia.
She is survived by: her husband Albert; her brothers, John Jones of Nebraska and Robert Patrick Jones (Joyce) of Missouri; her sister-in-law Nancy Franklin of Oklahoma; her daughters, Diane Dixon of Derby and Carolyn Ward of Topeka; her grandchildren, Niamh Dixon and Liam Dixon of Derby; and her stepgrandchildren, Lauren Childers (Michael) and Cassie Hermes. She is also survived by step great-grandchild, and nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Barbara's name to AFTD - Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, 2700 Horizon Drive, Suite 120, King of Prussia, PA 19406 (http://www.theaftd.org) or the Woodlawn United Methodist Church. As Barbara's last selfless act, brain donation was coordinated with Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center to help further research to identify causes, treatments, and hopefully, one day, cures for devastating diseases including FTD.
