She was predeceased by: her former husband George Elvin Empson; her husband Herbert C. Kurtz; and her sons, John and James. She is survived by: her daughter Nancy Empson of Olathe. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
