She was predeceased by: her parents, James Harvey Tharp and Emily Elizabeth King Tharp; her husband Malery Sutton; her daughter Doloris Carter Jones; and her siblings, Leroy, Clarence Tharp, Ruby Scott and Cecilia Tharp.

She is survived by: her daughter Janice F. Hewett (Wendall) of Tallahassee, Florida. She is also survived by two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
