It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Stanley James Petty of Terre Haute, Indiana, born in Heyworth, Illinois, who passed away on May 13, 2024, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, James Petty and Elaine Petty; and his wife Mary Jean Petty. He is survived by: his sister Rita Gibson of Normal, IL; his son Britt Petty (Lori); his grandchildren, Ellese, Jessica and Cade; and his daughter Susan Carter (Matthew).

“Very sad tonight to learn of the passing of Stan. Stan provided me my first opportunity to work in fitness when I was a grad student at ISU. I always enjoyed working there as well as being a member. The family environment can’t be matched by the big box gyms. While I now live states away I brought my son with me to Stan’s while visiting Terre Haute 2 yrs ago I’m glad he got the opportunity both to meet Stan that day and for him to work out at the gym that meant so much to me. Louie Morphew”
