He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Geckeler and Marguerite Forsythe Geckeler; his stepfather Floyd Morgan; and his sisters, Nancy James and Charlotte Kelley.
He is survived by: his wife Tharon Shepherd Geckeler; his daughters, Rebecca Boehler (Joe), Donna Stewart (Ed), Lisa Yucatonis (Peter), Shellee Bruner (Chris) and Marla Sobol (Carl); and his grandchildren, Morgan, Talan Boehler, Kennedi, Brooklyn, Alaina Bruner, Sarah Switzer, Ryan Nelson (Brittany), Audrey Fish (Jordan), Anthony and Amber Geckeler. He is also survived by ten great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vigo County Education Foundation, Gordon and Tharon Geckeler Grant Fund.
