He is survived by: his wife Sheila Houchins; his siblings, Joy Bell (Terry) of Centerville, Indiana, Dennis Houchins of Dayton and Dr. David E. Houchins (Tim Sapp) of Decatur, Georgia; and his niece Kerri Duke (Mike).
