He was predeceased by: his parents, William Charles and Anna Lois; and his brothers, Patrick Keown, John Keown and Timothy Keown.

He is survived by: his siblings, William "Joe" Keown (Ruth Ann), James "Bill" Keown (Vickie), Mary Gerteisen (Jordan) and Linda Canary; his son Nicholas Lee Keown (Lyndsay); his grandchildren, Maddox and Milo; and his aunt Alma Reinitz.
