He was predeceased by: his parents, Ben Smith and Nellie Smith (Davenport); his children, James B. Smith and Nancy; his son-in-law David K. Sekirka; and his siblings, Wayne, Ben Smith, Hope Matz, Connie Godlevski and Edith Walters.
He is survived by: his wife Ella Stull; his son Don Smith (Lori); his daughter-in-law Diane Smith of Rensselaer, IN; his grandchildren, Kelly Gabauer (Mike), Cassie Peck, Kevin Smith, Kimberly Brenneman (Aaron), Kevin Allen, Andrew Smith (Halei), Brock Smith and Madison Smith; and his great grandchildren, Emmett, Sophia Wilder, Cora, Lanae Peck, Keaten Nolton, Evan, Danika Brenneman, Jared Allen, Paityn and Parker Smith. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
