He was predeceased by: his parents, George Luther and Ethel Dorsey (Lemonds); his wife Vonda Dorsey (Brenton); his son Tommy Dorsey; and his sister Ina Weisman.

He is survived by: his children, David Dorsey of Petersburg, Judy Arterberry (Jack) of Wadesville and Rebecca "Becky" Gregory of Otwell; and his daughter-in-law Gayle Dorsey. He is also survived by five grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
