With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Walter Gene Berning of New Haven, Indiana, born in Decatur, Indiana, who passed away on September 21, 2021 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Otto Berning and Hildegard Berning (Wietfeldt); and his sister Marilyn Berning. He is survived by: his wife Vera Berning of New Haven, Indiana; and his children, Mark Berning (Shelia) of New Haven, James Berning (Donna) of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Kimberly McClaren (Tim) of Lakewood, Colorado. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
