He was predeceased by: his father Elisha L. Hardesty; and his stepfather Bill Jenkins. He is survived by: his wife Susie Hardesty; his children, Richelle Meyers (Jim), Amanda Hardesty (Jonathan White) and Chris Hardesty (Amber); his grandchildren, Dean, Raven, Dade, Alexis, Elisha, Ulrich, Isla, Derrick, Amber, Brittany, Michael and Crystal; his mother Clarice I. Jenkins (Wilton); and his siblings, Vickie Jenkins, Ron Hardesty (Theresa), Don Hardesty (Cathy), Nicki Harmon (Mervin Jr.), Mark Lindsey (Peggy) and Billy Mayfield.
The family requests that contributions in Rick's memory be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
