He was predeceased by: his parents, David L. Garringer and Alta Garringer (Luse); his wife Lula Van Meter; and his brother Robert E. Garringer (Ruth). He is survived by: his children, Ronda L. Tari of West Lafayette, Julie K. Dyer (Peter) of Monticello and Roger W. Garringer (Rose) of West Lafayette; his grandchildren, Greg A. Criswell of Tennessee, Jeremy Phillips of California, Meggan Jackson (Jeff) of Ft. Wayne, Melissa Backer (Ryan) of Fishers, Geoffrey English (Stephanie) of Indianapolis, William English (Bethany) of Indianapolis, Noah Garringer of Denver, Faith Garringer of Lafayette, Maya Garringer of Lafayette, Emma Garringer of West Lafayette and Isabella Garringer of West Lafayette; and his great grandchildren, Addison, Evan, Troy, Hudson and Grayson.

Due to ongoing Covid-19 concerns, the family requests that everyone in attendance wear a mask inside.

Memorial contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church in Monticello.
