He was predeceased by: his parents, William Arthur and Irma Eileen Tansel (Dillon); his siblings, Bob Tansel and Cheryl Standeford; and his siblings-in-law, Diane, Janet Tansel, Richard Morris and Charlie Evans.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Tansel of Martinsville; his daughter Hope; his son-in-law Ryan Mathews of Martinsville; his grandchildren, Madeline Elizabeth and Gabriel William Mathews; his siblings, Richard Tansel of Florida, Mark Tansel (Regina) of Mooresville, Marilyn Bowers (Jerry), Sheila Bishop (Eugene) of Plainfield, Virginia Kay Morris of Mooresville and Peggy Watkins (Jim) of Martinsville; and his sisters-in-law, Janie Evans of Tennessee, Connie Caesar (Donald), Teresa Kraft (Glenn), Rita Pavey (Howard) of Indianapolis and Wanda Gibson (Billy) of Arizona. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
