He was predeceased by: his parents, John Allan and Georgia Obenchain (Allen); and his sister Lisa Obenchain. He is survived by: his wife Jill Renee Obenchain (Dorman); his children, Sean Ruff (Megan) of Georgia, Shannon of Georgia and Anna Obenchain of Georgia; and his sisters, Laura Umphries (Perry) of Washington, Marianne of Washington and Jennifer Obenchain of Washington.

Reflecting John's love of animals, memorial contributions are suggested to the Cass County Humane Society or Cause for Paws.
