He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Watkins and Mary Watkins (Wolfe); his daughter Kathryn J. Haywood; and his granddaughters, Alexandra "Lexi" Dawn Poindexter and Breanna Kay Russell.

He is survived by: his wife Marsha K. Brown (Creager) of Linton; his children, Randall Brown (Sue) of Bloomfield, Robert Brown (Ann) of Bloomfield, Richard Brown (Michelle) of Linton, Rhonda Brown (James Franklin) of Jasonville, Jason Walton (Cindy) of Switz City and Katie Elliott (Greg) of Linton; his sister Sandy Lefler (John); his grandchildren, Andrew Brown, R. J. Brown (Megan), Levi Brown (Kaitlyn), Brandee McKee (Kris), Jason Haywood (Alicia), Tanner Haywood, Veronica Brown, Victoria Fulton (Will), Isabelle Brown, Shakole Lewis (Jarrod), Maclyn Booher, Noah Walton, Brynna Walton, Audrey Sparks (Owen) and Erin Elliott; and his grandson-in-law Logan Poindexter (Annabelle).
