He is survived by: his mother Ruth Mitchell (Long); his wife Diana Brown Mitchell; his sons, Ronald Mitchell, Jr. of La Porte, IN and Sean Mitchell (Sandra) of Michigan City, IN; his siblings, Donald Mitchell (Kathy), Cheryl Rutan (George) and Marcia Columbro (John); and his grandchild Brody.
