He was predeceased by: his mother Marguerite Jernigan (Pace); his former wife Carol Lykins; his wife Marilyn Ruth Vandermark; his father Edward W. Jernigan; his grandson Cody C. Jernigan; his brothers, Dave Jernigan, Steve Jernigan and Tony Jernigan; and his pet Bubby.
He is survived by: his children, Dave L. Jernigan (Tonia) of Jonesboro, Greg E. Cochrane of Port Charlotte, FL and Cindy L. Higgins of Jonesboro; his grandchildren, Riley C. Jernigan of Jonesboro, Carson C. Jernigan of Jonesboro, Amber L. Apple (Josh) of Marion and Jessica R. Bowland of Indianapolis; his great grandchildren, Hunter, Haily, Elijah and Laila; his siblings, Mary D. Boatright (Jerry L.) of Jonesboro and Richard "Dick" Jernigan (Jo Ellen) of Marion; his former wife Dixie Means; and his pet Maggie. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.
