He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Theodore Knies and Margaret Knies (Humbert); his wife Marguerite "Peg" Friedman; his children, Toni Messmer (David) of Jasper, IN, Leigh Boeckman (Jeff) of Jasper, IN, Eric Knies (Denise) of Jasper, IN, Drew Knies (Carmen) of Santa Claus, IN and Jay Knies (Jennifer) of Jasper, IN; his grandchildren, Matt Messmer (Megan), Tonia Mehringer (Seth), Luke Messmer (Mariah), Rachel Rickelman (Chayce), Maggie Schneider (John), C. J. Boeckman (Erika), Ted, Josh Knies, Olivia and Claire Knies; his siblings, Brenda Epple (C. G.) of Haubstadt, IN, Dallas Knies (Inez) of Celestine, IN and Doug Knies (Kathy) of Evansville, IN; his siblings-in-law, Carol Knies of Jasper, IN and Paul Striegel (Preceding) of Jasper, IN; and his siblings, Mary Jane Striegel and Richard Knies. He was also cherished by 11 great grandchildren, one great grandchild.
