He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Clarence D. Malan and Vera D. Malan (Moreland); his daughters, Donna Byrer (Doug) of Dale, IN and Valerie Daunhauer (Bob) of Huntingburg, IN; his wife Phyllis Malan; and his brother Ron Malan. He was also cherished by step grandchildren, and step great-grandchildren.
