He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Schmidt and Rose Schmidt (Goebel) of Posey County; his wife Patricia Schmidt; his stepmother Shirley Schmidt; and his siblings, Robert Schmidt and Julie Schmidt.
He is survived by: his children, Ronald Schmidt (Tammy) of Boonville, Eric Schmidt (Amanda) of Evansville, Jamie Kiesel (Joe) of Haubstadt and Jason Wright (Neva) of Owensville; his sister Mary Lipking (Chris) of Wadesville; and his grandchildren, Karina Caldwell (Dave), Amanda Riviera (Ozzy), Koy, Dean, Nate Schmidt, Landon, Lukas, Elizabeth, Emma and Lee Kiesel.
