He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Gehlbach and Anna Gehlbach (Schrader); his wife Rosemarie Baumann; his son Robert Karl Gehlbach; and his grandson John D. Bode.
He is survived by: his daughters, Helma K. Gehlbach and Rosemary Murray (John). He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to any Veteran Association, Wounded Warriors Project or Goshen Home Care & Hospice.
